The Festival on the Quay

'A light breeze filled the sails as we locked out of the Old Harbour on Saturday morning. Alex O’Connell soon proved that he had the same salt water running in his veins as that in his great-uncle’s, as he tacked back and forth while Grandma plotted our course. In less than three hours we had reached Portishead and locked in. The marina was full of colour and noise. Boats were decked out in signal flags and a jazz band was playing happy, summer music on a small stage. Chapter 12, Past the Town of Tribulation & Straight on to Derring Do. Let’s hope that life imitates art on this occasion, as I have just been booked for the Festival on the Quays on 15th July. Proceeds from the event support the RNLI.

The photograph shows one of our early morning lock outs on a very foggy morning. I used our experiences from this trip in the second book in the Megan Waterfield Series, Red Skye Sunset.
